An extended class on the fundamentals of backbending in yoga
In this two hour backbending workshop we will take time to explore the purpose of so-called ‘backbends’ with a focus on integrating the spine, hips and shoulders to enable the front body to open and avoid compression in the back. We will look at common restrictions and will explore some drills and exercises to help working on them. We will touch upon the energetic quality of these movements and will allow time to wind down with some restorative poses and relaxation at the end.
